15 Page Fairy Tale Early Reader (SUPER Simple Assembly Instructions)
Start off each morning by having students read the fable aloud. Note any difficulties with specific words for extra review. By the end of the week students should be reading the story fluently on their own. TIP: Before starting each week, stock your literacy center or book basket with different variations of the week’s fable.

Monday

Story Snapshot: Students answer quick questions about the characters, setting and event based on the snapshot taken from the story.

Character Profile: Students answer detailed questions about different characters in the story such as Character Name, Physical Description and Personality Traits.

Tuesday

Character Feelings: Students are shown different scenes from the story and answer questions about what characters might feel or do in the situation.

Compare & Contrast: Students compare and contrast key characters from the story.

Wednesday

Story Sequencing: Students color, cut, and paste the events into the correct story order.

Story Sticks: Students cut out and paste the figures onto popsicle sticks to create their own storytelling prompts. Students use the props to retell the story in their own words.

Thursday

Problem & Solution: Students use the scene prompts to write a detailed sentence about the problem and the solution in the story. Students can then offer their own resolution or alternate ending for the fable.

Foolish Fairy Tales: Students use nouns, verbs, adjectives and more to create their own silly stories.

Friday

Story Circles: Students choose characters and a setting for their own fairy tale then brainstorm a beginning, middle, and ending to their story.

Write Your Own Fairy Tale Paper: Students then draft their fairy tale onto the provided paper. Encourage students to have a clear beginning, middle and ending to their story.
